The Easiest Path to Flying
A Sport Pilot license (SPL) is an entry-level certificate for flying Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA), offering a more affordable and faster path to flying than a Private Pilot License, requiring less flight time (min 20 hrs) and using a U.S. driver’s license or a third-class medical for fitness. Sport Pilots can fly single-engine LSAs, carry one passenger, fly during the day under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) in less congested airspace (Class E & G), and share expenses, making it ideal for recreational flying.
