FAQ
The timeline varies by student, but most people complete their PPL in 3–6 months with consistent training. The FAA requires a minimum of 40 flight hours, though many students finish closer to 55–70 hours. Training pace depends on weather, scheduling, and how frequently you fly.
You do not need any experience before you start flight training.
Private pilot license (PPL) applicants generally require a third-class Medical Certificate issued by an FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). Key requirements include distance vision of 20/40 or better (corrected), hearing conversational speech, and passing exams for cardiovascular, neurological, and mental health, with specific disqualifying conditions including epilepsy, psychosis, and severe personality disorders. The certificate lasts 5 years if under 40, or 2 years if 40 or older.
Costs are based on a 3-6 month completion, flying an average of 3 hours per week, with no repeat lessons. Total costs may vary, but the estimate is $28,335.
It depends upon the type of license you are training for. It will either be the TECNAM P2008 for sport pilots or the Cirrus 20R for private pilots.
